Together we walk...

Think Beyond is back with the 2nd Powai Peace Walk – an annual event that was conceptualized on the first anniversary of Mumbai terror attacks of November 2008. The Powai Peace Walk is to celebrate the unity that we as a nation showed on that day & the peace that prevailed after our peacekeepers overcame the terrorists.

We now invite you to participate in the event and walk alongwith the rest for Unity, Peace & Harmony.  The proposed itinerary of the event is as under:
Event                                    2nd Annual Powai Peace Walk
Date                                     28th November 2010
Time                                    10.30 AM
Venue                                  Hiranandani Gardens, Powai
Flag off by                            Dr (Mrs) Indu Shahani, the Sheriff of Mumbai

Your participation in the event will not only contribute to the success of the event, but more important, it will help in bringing the lesser-privileged children & youth to mainstream of the society.

Together, we walk. Together, we bridge the gap.

Tamaso Maa Jyotirgamay...Illuminate!!

Tamaso ma Jyotirgamay..

Lead us from darkness to the enlightenment…

Thus says the devotee to the god in ancient Hindu scriptures, while praying for eternal peace. And how wisely – because it is the darkness in & around us that leads to the gloom & despair and peace can not co-exist with gloom & despair all around.

Think Beyond” was founded with the objective of being a catalyst in illuminating lives of lesser privileged. Illuminate is a program of Think Beyond through which we propose to implement a coordinated effort by the privileged sections of the society towards bringing light into the lives of lesser-privileged. The program strives to attain its objective through concentrating on 2 basic essentials of life – Electricity & Education.

As a service to the community & the country, through Illuminate program, we shall enable the villagers to obtain such electricity where the recurring costs are either low or tap renweable energy sources to ensure free electricty for them. The program also envisages volunteer driven remedial education to the children & adults of lesser-privileged section of the society in urban as well as rural areas.

Thapar Pada, a small village near Vikramgad housing about 40 odd families, is first such village that has been adopted by Think Beyond for this purpose. The team of Think Beyond volunteers, in support of the villagers’ initiative of obtaining electricity legally, on 13th February 2010, distributed CFL bulbs of highest luminance possible. This would ensure lower recurring cost of electricity for them while providing light bright enough for their children to study.

The team of Think Beyond would like to acknowledge Mr. Hemant Chhabra for his inspirational guidance and Mr. Christophe Vanpoulle of Roquette for providing caps for distribution to the villagers.

Think beyond is further supplementing this initiative through organizing a volunteer driven remedial education programme for the children & illiterate adults of the area, including neighbouring villages as well as the lesser privileged section of our city.  We sincerely believe in the vision of Kahlil Gibran when he wrote:

You give but little when you give of your possessions, It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.
